Rose pens five-year Tottenham deal

31 July 2014, 19:53

London - Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose has signed a new five-year contract, the Premier League club announced on their website on Thursday.

The 24-year-old, who began his career as a winger, joined Tottenham from Leeds United in July 2007 and scored a stunning long-range volley against derby rivals Arsenal on his full debut in April 2010.

After a successful loan spell at Sunderland in the 2012-13 campaign, he returned to White Hart Lane last season and played 20 times in the Premier League, scoring once.

In total he has made 59 appearances for Spurs, scoring three goals, but he faces fresh competition for a first-team place following the arrival of 21-year-old Wales international Ben Davies from Swansea City last week.

Rose made 29 appearances for England Under-21s and was also a member of the squad that represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics in London.
