Palace backed - for relegation

28 May 2013, 16:08 Garrin Lambley - Sport24 Editor

Cape Town - Crystal Palace, currently basking in the glory of having secured their spot in the English Premiership next season, have awoken to the stark reality they are favourites to be relegated.

Palace, who beat Watford 1-0 on Monday to Cardiff City and Hull City in graduating from the Championship this term, last played in the top-flight in England in 2005, the last of four single-season stints for the London club.

However, despite winning the "richest game in world football" which will reportedly swell Palace's revenue by up to £120 million, leading UK bookmakers Ladbrokes have installed Ian Holloway's side as 1/2 "favourites" to be relegated after the 2013/14 season.

Hull are 8/11 to join Palace back in the Championship, while Cardiff have been given the greatest chance of survival out of the three promoted teams at 23/20.

Meanwhile, Palace are 10 000/1 rank outsiders to WIN the Premiership title next season, with Manchester United and Manchester City joint 2/1 favourites.
