Ozil in hot water with Wenger

26 March 2015, 09:41

Cape Town - Mesut Ozil will have to explain his night-clubbing antics to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, reports theEvening Standard.

Signed from Real Madrid for a club record £42.4 million, the German World Cup winner has been criticised for several below-par outings in recent weeks.

Ozil is surrounded in controversy after being spotted in a nightclub in Germany, hours after being ruled out of Saturday's league fixture.

The play-maker missed Arsenal's last league fixture, a 2-1 win at Newcastle, as the player was suffering with a cold. Ozil had been given time off as a result and duly return to Germany ahead of the friendly against Australia on Wednesday evening.

No formal sanction is expected.

Ozil has just three league goals and six assists to his credit in a season where he has struggled with injury and form.
