Onyango banking on the fans

25 September 2014, 14:34

Nairobi - Gor Mahia captain Jerim Onyango said the club's supporters would have a significant impact on the outcome of the current campaign.

Gor Mahia returned to the top of the Kenya Premier League standings after their last match day and indications are that they will consolidate that position as the season draws closer to its conclusion.

However, Onyango said the support of the local football fraternity would be crucial to their cause, as they try to fend off challenges from Sofapaka, Tusker and even Chemelil during the business end of the season.

"Fans are our extra strength and they have been tremendous whenever we have a game. We do appreciate their efforts and it will be even better if they double their support as we enter the final stretch of the race," told the club's website on Wednesday.

"We don't feel any pressure despite the race looking tight. Ours is to take one game at a time and give our full concentration on the game we have not to give attention to what other teams are doing," he added.
