Nandwa open to Leopards extension

12 November 2013, 14:20

Nairobi – AFC Leopards interim coach James Nandwa is open to staying at the club in the 2014 season.

Nandwa has had a desirable impact since taking over at the club after Belgian coach Luc Eymael’s ouster in September, losing just once and leading the club to a second place finish in the Kenyan Premier League.

He was hired on an interim basis to the end of the 2013 season but if he can lead Leopards to the GOtv Shield crown over the weekend, he will have given himself a good shot at landing the full time job.

At the moment, the Harambee Stars assistant coach is in no hurry to think about his future but has made no secret about the fact that he would not mind staying at the club if things are right.

“Why not? It is a great club with great managers, fantastic fans and a playing unit that is close to perfection. Anyone would want to stay here but at the same time the circumstances should be right.

“At the moment we are thinking about the final and then afterwards we can sit down and see, he said.

Leopards take on rivals Gor Mahia in the Shield final, Sunday November 17, 2013.
