Munro did not storm out of FKF- KPL meeting

19 February 2015, 13:14

Nairobi - Mathare United chairman Bob Munro has refuted reports he stormed out of a meeting between the Kenyan Premier League and the Football Kenya Federation.

The two football bodies were meeting in Nairobi on Wednesday to discuss the running of the country's top-flight league in 2015, and Munro was seen leaving the meeting early, but claims he had prior commitments and had to excuse himself.

His statement indicates that he had full confidence in the remaining officials' ability to resolve the matter at hand.

"The simple facts are: The meeting was scheduled to start at 9:00am, I had a prior commitment for an important meeting at 1:00pm," read his statement.

"I had to return two urgent family calls during the meeting and at least two other participants had to leave for other meetings before noon.

"I alerted the KPL Chairman I would also have to leave soon and at 12:30pm I calmly and quietly left the meeting.

"To the many journalists who immediately tackled me outside the meeting room, I calmly explained the above facts.

"I also stated that, like those who left earlier, I had full confidence in the KPL chairman and remaining KPL club chairmen to represent our clubs. As the TV cameras were rolling throughout, the above facts and statements can easily be verified by the TV journalists."
