Mombasa - Football Kenya Federation South Coast Branch acting vice –chairman
Ismael Ogolla Mohammed has criticized the
decision to award Mombasa only four matches in the upcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
Ismael is demanding Mombasa host even the semi-finals finals of the championship.
‘’It is not
a privilege that we are asking for but it is our right to host the semi-finals
matches’’ said Ismael.
The tough talking
veteran sports administrator disclosed that the coastal region needs an expert or
somebody who could fight for their rights in so far as organizing the such matches
and it is not too late to go to the drawing board because some counties listed are not ready to host
the CECAFA matches.
further revealed the Branch will meet soon to chart the way forward, calling the development a raw deal.
wants to know what transpired. Mombasa is well known for its infrastructure including the
transport system, hotels and accommodation which cannot be compared to any
other city with an exception of Nairobi to host a championship of this nature.
stated that the Branch should have been involved with the so called bidding
committee for hosting CECAFA matches in Mombasa.
While the Branch is not
blaming the governor Hon. Ali Hassan Joho, they insist he should have consulted the branch
before deciding with CECAFA on the matches to be played in Mombasa.
the fixture released by CECAFA, Mombasa
will host, subject to confirmation, four quarter finals matches of the CECAFA
scheduled to be played on 7’th and 8’th, December, 2013.
