Nairobi - The senior man’s national team aims to play its games at the refurbished Mombasa Municipal Stadium during the upcoming Council for East and Central Africa (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.
The event kicks off in a fortnight with the Mombasa Municipal Stadium getting the green light to host the some of the matches.
“We are very impressed with the repair work that has been done here and would want to confirm that Mombasa Municipal Stadium will definitely be one of the venues for this tournament,” Mukolwe said at the venue,” said Football Kenya Federation National Executive Committee member, Elly Mukolwe, in Mombasa after when he led a team of CECAFA officials on a tour of the refurbished stadium.
The official gave a strong hint that Harambee Stars would set up camp in the coastal city if everything went according to the plan.
“If everything remains the way it is, then Harambee Stars will be in Mombasa but we will wait until Friday when the draw will be conducted,” said Mukolwe.
Apart from Mombasa, other venues that will host the two-week tournament are Nairobi, Machakos, Kisumu and Mumias.
Ten nations including the hosts have so far confirmed their participation in the tournament that will coincide with Kenya’s 50th independence anniversary.
