Mombasa appeals to FKF to rescind monetary demand

04 December 2013, 13:46 Sumba Bwire

Mombasa - Football Kenya Federation South Coast Branch has appealed to the FKF President Sam Nyamweya to rescind the demand for ksh 10 million shillings for hosting of the CECAFA quarter finals in Mombasa.

Speaking during a press conference at the Mombasa Municipal Stadium Wednesday, branch secretary Evans Mwachia said  the national office should soften their stand considering the fact the county government has agreed to cater for  all the expenses for the matches.

‘’While we sympathize with the situation and while we were not involved in the bidding of these matches in the initial stages, we are appealing to the national office to reconsider their demand of  KES10 million especially since the county government has committed to undertake all the expenses, said Mwachia.

Mwachia was flanked by the Mombasa County Sports Minister Hazel Koitaba who confirmed the county government has reserved air tickets, transport, accommodation, security and other related costs.

Mwachia and Koitaba’s press statements come hot on the heels of unconfirmed reports that the National Office has cancelled the hosting of matches for non compliance of the KES 10 million demand.
