Matasi, 6 others leave AFC Leopards

01 December 2014, 13:36 Dennis Omido

Nairobi - AFC Leopards has announced the release of seven players whose contracts expire on 31 December, 2014.

In a statement, the club said that the move was aimed at strengthening and building its squad ahead of the 2015 Kenya Premier League season.

“AFC Leopards has announced that it will not be renewing contracts of 7 of its players at the end of this year.

“Those whose contracts will not be renewed include Charles Okwemba, Oscar Kadenge, Augustine Etemesi, Khaleed Juman, Kenneth Wendo, Patrick Matasi and Erick Masika,” read part of the statement.

The club said the seven players are not part of head coach Pieter Hendrick De Jongh’s plans for next season.

“The club would like to wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” the statement added.

"We are not happy with the position we finished the league. We want to have a head start in our preparations for 2015 and therefore we have very little time to waste," said the head coach.

The team is expected to reconvene for training on 3 December after a three weeks break.
