Nairobi - Former Gor Mahia goalkeeper Ivo Mapunda has regrets over his time spent at the club but is happy at new home Simba SC.
The Tanzanian international moved back home to Simba in November after his contract with Gor expired.
He is happy at his new home, where he has been re-united with former coach at Gor Zdravko Logarusic and he says he is looking forward to the ongoing Tanzanian league season.
Mapunda won a number of trophies with Gor but does have some regrets over his stay at K'ogalo.
" I think I could probably have played much more than I eventually did, he said.
" When I arrived in Kenya to join Bandari, I had been a first choice keeper through all my clubs but when I got to Gor, all of a sudden I was either second or third choice.
" It was different for me and I took time to adjust and even though I was content, I was not happy to stay on the bench.
" The reality is that there was a very good keeper in Jerim Onyango and he was the first choice and he played most of the games at Gor.
" That is probably my regret. On the other hand, I was lucky to play in a very good side full of players who wanted to win and we won many trophies as a result.
" I'm happy at Simba. They are as big as Gor in Tanzania and it feels good to know that I can still perform at the highest level, he added.
Mapunda was first choice for mainland Tanzania in the recently ended CECAFA Challenge Cup and won the Kenyan Premier League, KPL Top 8 and President's Cup in his time at Gor.
