Leopards see off Gor Mahia in Nairobi derby

08 June 2014, 18:03

Nairobi - AFC Leopards beat arch rivals Gor Mahia 3-1 in an eventful Nairobi derby played at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The onus was on Leopards to claw their way back into contention in the Kenyan Premier League and the produced a solid display to see off a disappointing Gor outfit.

Timonah Wanyonyi gave Gor a first half lead after good play from Dan Sserunkuma but Leopards responded with enterprising play of their own, finished off by Jacob Keli.

The game ended 1-1 at the break.

The second half was all Leopards as goals from Charles Okwemba off a header and the excellent Bernard Mang'oli gave Leopards the win.

The result means that Leopards climb to 17 points on the log, 12 behind leaders Gor but more importantly, within just four wins of their rivals.
