Leopards coach blasts ref

07 July 2014, 11:27

Nairobi - AFC Leopards head coach Hendrik Pieter de Jongh has laid the blame on the referee for their 2-1 loss to Ulinzi Stars on Saturday.

Ingwe are stuck in 12th position in the KPL table following the defeat, which was their first against Ulinzi in three years.

The Leopards mentor, however, believes they were robbed, after being denied a penalty which would have given them a chance to tie the game.

"I am unhappy with the officiating in the game because now it has cost us points," De Jongh said during his post match interview.

"It is a common occurrence in the KPL and the federation has to do something about it as soon as possible. Today, particularly, it was so bad from both the referee and his assistants.

"They denied Leopards a penalty yet they had given the opponents one is very similar circumstances."

Ulinzi scored their second goal from the penalty spot, after Joseph Shikokoti's handball in the box. Ingwe had a shout when Mohammed Hassan seemed to handle on the other end, but their appeals fell on deaf ears.
