Kenyans expected to dominate in Paris

Nairobi - Kenya are favourites to claim the 3000m steeplechase crown in Paris at
the Areva Diamond League meeting with as many as nine top runners from
the country taking part.
Jairus Birech, Consenslus Kipruto, Paul Kipsiele Koech will be joined
by 2008 Olympic champion Birmin Kipruto, Hillary Yego, Lawrence Kemboi,
Clement Kemboi and Haron Lagat at the Stade de France on Saturday.
Olympic and world champions Ezekiel Kemboi remains in Kenya due to
visa issues, but efforts are being made to get him to Paris in time for
Birech, the defending steeplechase series champion, has already won
in Shanghai and Oslo so far this year and says he is keen to make it a
hat-trick of wins in preparation for the World Championships in China in
"Even though I have won two events, I am not yet in my best shape," Birech told Daily Nation Sports.
"My target is to retain the Series and be in my best shape ever at the national trials and during the World Championships.
"The good thing about all this is that I am close to everyone including my training mate Ezekiel Kemboi.
"We only put our friendship aside for everyone to run his race in competitions."
