Kenyan Premier League resumes with full roster

02 May 2014, 14:43

Nairobi - Kenyan Premier League (KPL) games resume this weekend across the country with three matches lined-up for Saturday.

Apart from Saturday's league matches, KPL also sanctioned five Premiership games nationwide in a move aimed at ensuring the season would end without disruption.

Former champions, AFC Leopards, who recently lost 0-1 to Mathare United at Nyayo Stadium, will host third placed Tusker Football Club at Machakos Stadium while second placed Chemelil Sugar entertains Thika United at Chemelil Stadium with Ulinzi Stars battling out with KCB at Afraha Stadium on Saturday.

All the three matches have been planned for 1500 hrs local time.

On Sunday, defending champions, Gor Mahia, who also happen to be the current log leaders, will travel for a date with Sony Sugar at Afraha in a match that promises fireworks.

Sony Sugar come into this crucial match boasting a 1-1 away draw to Western Stima last week while the defending champions are also on cloud nine following their convincing 3-0 massacre of Muhoroni Youth.

Elsewhere across the country on Sunday, fifth placed Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will host Mathare United at Nyayo Stadium while fourth-placed Sofapaka entertains Western Stima at Machakos Stadium.

Smarting from a 0-3 drubbing by Gor Mahia last week, Muhoroni Youth will be hosting Bandari    Muhoroni what is likely to bean evenly balanced match.

Earlier on last week, Bandari FC were held to a 1 - 1 draw by Ulinzi Stars, and this weekend, they would want to collect maximum points in order to improve on their league standing.

Log anchors, Top Fry Nakuru, travel to City Stars at Nyayo Stadium in a match widely tipped to go City Stars' way considering that they will be playing at their own backyard.

The match also promises thrilling action as both teams would want to walk away with the three valuable points in order to enhance their chances of staying in the league next season.

Top Fry Nakuru are placed at the bottom 16 premiership teams while City Stars are 12th.
