Kenya ready to take on CHAN mantle

Nairobi - Kenya will be ready to host the CHAN 2018 championships, according to Football Kenya Federation chair Sam Nyamweya.
Kenya were awarded the competition hosting rights by governing body CAF and will have the chance to host a first major tournament in the country's history.
Observers though, will point to the 1996 African Cup of Nations, which Kenya were awarded but failed to honour, as a reminder of the country's ills.
This time though, Nyamweya says that there will be no let-up and that the country will deliver on CAF's trust in their ability to host a string and succesful tourney.
" We will deliver. There is no doubt about that, he said.
" It is an opportunity for all stakeholders in Kenya to deliver, from the government, the counties and the private sector as well as the public to ensure we are a success.
" The government has said it is ready and willing to facilitate the tourney and we have a private declaration from the president and his deputy.
" We now have four years to make things work out and I am confident we will produce great things, he added.
South Africa last hosted the tourney in January this year, which was won by Libya.
