KPL weekend wrap

24 March 2014, 14:33

Nairobi - Dennis Odhiambo was the hero and villain as fourth-placed Premiership outfit Thika United narrowly edged KCB 2-1 in an exciting Kenyan Premier League match played at Ruaraka Stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Michael Olunga and Odhiambo were enough to see Thika United pocket the three valuable points in this evenly-balanced match.

However, Odhiambo turned villain when he scored an own goal to give KCB some lifeline, but the Thika United skipper immediately rectified his error by grabbing the winner to help his side move to the fourth place on league log standing.

Elsewhere, Sofapaka Football Club massacred visiting Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) 3 – 0 in a one sided encounter at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

Goals from Cliff Miheso, Enock Agwanda and Mieno ensured that Sofaka collected three crucial points.

In another intriguing premiership soccer match, Nairobi City Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Sony Sugar at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

Sony Sugar scored first from the spot-kick through Edwin Oduor while Nairobi City Stars equalised through Lawrence Kahadha.

At Mumias Sports Complex on Sunday, Bandari FC drew 2-2 with bitter rivals Western Stima in another balanced premiership league match.

Western Stima grabbed their two goals through David Okello and Fredrick Shimonyo before Bandari FC replied through double scorer Justus Anene.

On Saturday, defending champions, Gor Mahia were humiliated 0-2 by Top Fry AllStars in a premiership match contested in Nakuru.

Top Fry AllStars won the match courtesy of two goals by diminutive striker John Ndirangu, which left the defending champions shell-shocked after the 90-minutes of regulation time.
