Italian club wants Beckham

24 November 2011, 15:23

Rome - David Beckham has revealed he has an offer from an unnamed club in Italy but says he has yet to decide on his future once his Los Angeles Galaxy contract runs out at the end of the year.

Beckham added a third league title in a third different country when Galaxy lifted the MLS Cup at the weekend and his five years in the United States are due to come to an end in just over a month.

Rumours regarding his future have been in overdrive for the last couple of months.

And as well as reported interest from Paris St Germain and Tottenham, Beckham says a Serie A side has also come sniffing.

The 36-year-old is no stranger to Italy having twice spent short spells at AC Milan.

"I've had offers from different places, including Serie A," Beckham told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I had a great time in Italy and I love the country, starting with the football.

"Italy is one of the possibilities."

The most concrete possibility seems to be PSG while Beckham repeated it would be unlikely that he makes a return to the Premier League.

"I haven't yet spoken to (PSG sports director) Leonardo but before Sunday's (MLS Cup) final he sent me a message to wish me luck," added the former Manchester United star.

"I don't think I'll play in England. I've said it many times before, I'd find it difficult to wear a shirt other than Man United's because I'm still a huge fan."

Beckham has ruled out the possibility of hanging up his boots but wherever he ends up playing his football in January, his long-term future remains in California.

"Living close to Hollywood is like being in a film," he enthused.

"We've had five great years here and whatever happens we'll be keeping our home because we expect to spend a lot of time here.

"I've always made my decisions based on where I wanted to play but now I have four children and and I've come to the point in my career where my family is the most important thing."

Beckham has made no secret of the fact that he wants to be a part of the British Olympic team even though his career with England is over.

But he has a lot more faith in Fabio Capello's players than most.

"I think in a competition like the European Championships they can go all the way, I'm convinved by that," he said.

"Unfortunately, though, many detractors have a bleak outlook and think that we won't win anything for many years."
