Govt to sensitise footballers on drugs

Nairobi - The government will from next year carry out random doping tests on footballers in the Kenyan Premier League as part of its campaign to eradicate drug use among sportsmen.
Sports Cabinet secretary Hassan Wario says the government is concerned about the escalating use of unwanted drugs by Kenyan sportsmen and will take the lead in the sensitization of sportsmen against the vice.
Speaking during a luncheon for Gor Mahia players who have just been crowned champions of the KPL, Wario said footballers must know that the use of some drugs like bhang and khat which is commonly used by some Kenyan youth is illegal in sport.
