Nairobi - Youth and Sports Minister Ababu Namwamba has assured Football Kenya Federation [FKF] of the government’s support in their bid to host the 2017 African Youth Championships [AYC] and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony of the new Harambee Stars coach, Adel Amrouche, the minister said that he expressed Kenya’s interest to host the continental showpiece when he met Caf president Issa Hayatou in Kampala.
“Caf rules stipulates that for a country to host the Cup of Nations, it must first host one of the youth tournaments and that is why we want to start by hosting the U17 tourney,” he said.
