Gor players yet to receive 3 months pay

Nairobi - The financial constraints at Gor Mahia have seen the players boycott training due to unpaid salaries and allowances.

The news comes as a major blow to the capital club, who contest the second leg of their CAF Champions League first-round tie against AC Leopards this weekend.

The squad are reportedly owed KES 3.5 million in wages and winning bonus for the three Kenyan Premier League matches they have contested in 2015.

"All we are asking for is our pay. We understand the dire financial situation the club is facing but it is also important that our needs as players are met," said one of the players who sough anonymity.

"We have families to feed. We also have other obligations to meet and that is why we are demanding our pay. We have players our part, now the management also needs to do its part."

Gor chairman Ambrose Rachier confirmed the unpaid monies, but assured the players the issue will be seen to swiftly.

"It is true we are lagging behind in payments but we are making all efforts to sort the situation," said Rachier.
