Gor inch closer to League title

Nairobi - Gor Mahia remain on course to win the Premier League title for the first time in 18 years after a narrow victory over Thika United.
Goals by chief striker Dan Sserunkuma and Eric Ochieng were enough to settle the match as a contest as Thika scored through Dennis Odhiambo netted a consolation in a match that ended 2-1 at the Thika Municipal Stadium.
Odhiambo coolly converted a penalty.
“Thika are a good side but we had more than they had,” said Gor Mahia coach, Bob Williamson, after the match.
However, Gor Mahia fans were left worried after their dependable striker Sserunkuma left the pitch on a stretcher following a collision with a Thika defender in injury time.
The seriousness of the injury could not be ascertained.
Gor Mahia, despite being one of the most successful sides locally, have not won the coveted Premiership since 1995.
However the team has since 2010 been bouncing back to fame, steadily bringing fans back to the pitch and regularly filling sold-out stadiums.
They face competition from Sofapaka in claiming an elusive title.
