Gor Mahia to miss Mapinduzi tourney

27 December 2013, 11:24

Nairobi - Gor Mahia will not travel to Tanzania to take part in the annual Mapinduzi football tournament.

The Kenyan Premier League champions have claimed that fatigue and an unsettled pre-season are the reasons behind them missing the tournament.

The annual tourney will begin in January for ten days in the island off the coast of Tanzania to celebrate it's independence week.

AFC Leopards and Tusker FC will attend the tournament.

" The players are fatigued and the head coach (Bobby Williamson) does not see reason why the club should go across the border for friendly matches against opposition they deem lesser, a source at the club said.

" Also, plenty of players took part in Cecafa and then the DSTV Supersport Cup so they do need some rest.

Gor will take part in the 2014 CAF Champions League.
