Gor Mahia inch closer to title

Nairobi - Gor Mahia edged closer to their first league crown since 1995 after a 2-1 win over Mathare United took them eight points clear at the top of the table on Wednesday evening.
Dan Sserunkuma and substitute Edwin Lavatsa put Gor 2-0 up and even though the slum boys pulled a goal back through Kenneth Wendo, the result was never in doubt as K’Ogalo increased the lead at the top of the log with six games remaining.
The two sides had drawn in six of their last seven matches and the first half on Wednesday followed a similar pattern with both teams flooding the midfield in a cagey opening period devoid of any meaningful goalmouth action.
