Giggs EPL's 'best ever'

Johannesburg - Former Sunderland and Southampton striker, Kevin Phillips, believes recently retired Manchester United winger, Ryan Giggs, is the best player ever to have played in the English Premier League (EPL).
The Wales international earlier this week announced his retirement from the beautiful game, after making a record 963 appearances for the Red Devils.
Phillips, the 1999/2000 European Golden Shoe winner, said the United legend never disappointed fans in his 24 seasons at the Theatre of dreams.
He further wished the 40-year-old veteran well in his new role with the 20-time EPL champions.
“He was always phenomenal in each and every season he played,” Phillips said on Sky Sports Television, which is aired on SA screens for a few hours daily.
“His runs were very incredible. He was so dedicated to the game and he represented the United brand with pride.
“To me he is the best player ever to play in the English Premier League. I believe he will be a good assistant manager.
“I wish him all the best of luck in his new role as an assistant manager of Manchester United,” added Phillips.
Giggs will begin his assistant managerial role, to the newly appointed United manager Louis Van Gaal, next season.
The Dutch tactician will take over the from sacked Scottish mentor, David Moyes, after the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Van Gaal will be at the helm of the Netherlands at the global spectacle.
