Football Kenya Federation acts tough on illegal academies

Nairobi - Football Kenya Federation FKF has threatened to crack down on the mushrooming of illegal academies in the country.

The federation has instructed its branches to collect a database of all academies within their jurisdiction.

A circular signed by FKF CEO Michael Esakwa and addressed to all branches read partly:

"In executing our core mandate which includes but not limited to policy formulation, streamlining and regulation of football ion all its form, a task force was established to address the issue of Football Academies within the context of their legal existence, ownership, physical location, age group categories, linkages with external bodies within an without the borders of our nation and any other relevant information that may assist the task force in its work.
"In view of the above you are required within 7 days from the date of this memo to furnish the FKF National office with information on football academies in your area of jurisdiction as required by the task force.’’
The letter was copied top all sub branches, NEC members and FKF president Sam Nyamweya.
