Football: I'm set to stay in Dynamo: Petrescu

20 November 2013, 18:09

Moscow  - Dynamo Moscow manager Dan Petrescu has dismissed rumours that he is set to move to one of the clubs of the English Premiership, saying he would honour the terms of existing contract.

"I have not been in talks with any club being under contract with another outfit," the former Chelsea midfielder said.

"And I'm not set to do it in the future. Probably the clubs contacted my agent, not me.

"I love England and I'm really pleased with the fact that English clubs still remember me, but currently a move for me to England is absolutely impossible as I'm still under contract with Dynamo."

Petrescu added that he was happy to be Dynamo manager and was set to stay with the club until the end of the deal.

"I don't know whether Dynamo are happy to have me as a head coach but I want to stay here for another 18 months when the contract expires," he said.

And I'd like to stay here for 10 more years. I would move to England only if Dynamo said they no longer wanted me."

The 45-year-old coach said that he felt comfortable at Dynamo despite being under the pressure of expectations, especially to deliver a first league title for the club since 1976.

"The head coach is under pressure in every club as the supporters always expect victories and classy performance from their favourites," he said.

"But I have a feeling we are making progress. Just compare where Dynamo was before I took over the club and where they are now.

Petrescu took over Dynamo in August 2012, when the team were ottom of the league without a single point.

Under Petrescu, Dynamo went on a 14-match unbeaten streak to finish the season in seventh position.
