FKF appeal Amrouche ban
10 July 2014, 14:57
Nairobi - FKF have appealed the touchline ban imposed on senior national team head
coach Adel Amrouche ahead of their AFCON qualifier against Lesotho.
The Harambee Stars boss was punished after confronting the match
officials during the return leg of their AFCON qualifier away to the
Comoros in May.
However, FKF CEO Michael Esakwa is hopeful they will be able to
overturn the decision and avoid having Amrouche watch both legs of
second round qualifiers from the stands.
"The (CAF) disciplinary committee is going to sit on the 17th to rule the verdict," Esakwa explained to Capital Sport.
"We have filed a strong appeal since we have even forwarded the video
copy of the match which was showing there were no such incidences that
he is accused of.
"Personally I was there and we believe the punishment was quite hash
since the coach restrained himself and was within his technical area.
"It's normal for coaches to react when referees makes a call and
that's what Amrouche did, but we are optimistic the ban will be lifted."
