Nairobi - Seven Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates have been charged in a Nairobi court for being in possession of exam materials prior to a sitting, reports the Daily Nation.
The students who attend Twilight Secondary School in Nairobi's Kayole area were allegedly found in possession of the exam materials prior to the sitting of a history and government paper 1 examination on November 11, 2013.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has staged a valiant war
against cheating in this year's national examinations even though the
law might let them down in respect to the penal code which classifies
examination offenses as petty crime which carries penalties not
exceeding KES 10,000.The prosecution has lined up
five witnesses to testify in the case against the candidates.
The students were each released on a KES10,000 bond at the Makadara Law Courts ,pending a trial on February 17, 2013.
