EPL Out of Contract XI

14 May 2015, 08:35 Wade Pretorius - Sport24

Cape Town - The end of the season in the Premier League is rapidly approaching its conclusion and many players' contracts expiring, Sport24's Wade Pretorius looks at the those who deserve a new deal to continue plying their trade in the top-flight of English football.

Sport24's Premier League 'Out of Contract XI':

1. Boaz Myhill (West Bromwich Albion) - His performance against Manchester United a few weeks back might've reminded a few scouts to his qualities.

2. Glen Johnson (Liverpool) - Glen Johnson or City's Micah Richards? Much of a muchness but the Liverpool players gets the nod on this occasion.

3. Guy Demel (West Ham United) - Out of position at left back in this side but Demel still capable of doing the job.

4. Ryan Taylor (Newcastle United) - Not an abundance of centre-backs amongst those up for free transfers but Taylor is certainly a reliable pick.

5. Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa) - Tim Sherwood will be sweating on Vlaar's future, a strong centre-back capable of keeping most strikers in the league on their toes.

6. Mathieu Flamini (Arsenal) - Could do a Cambiasso-type job for any bottom half side. Still only 31 years old.

7. James Milner (Manchester City) - Walks into the side as he has loads of experience and plenty to offer any side. A move to Liverpool or Arsenal beckons if speculation is to be believed.

8. Tom Cleverley (Manchester United/on loan at Aston Villa) - Great week for Tom, after also being selected for the EPL Team of the Week...

9. Jonathan Walters (Stoke City) - In the side, as long as he doesn't take the spot-kick responsibilities. Sneaks into the side ahead of Chelsea's Gael Kakuta.

10. James Wilson (Manchester United) - Wilson gets into the side ahead of Didier Drogba, mainly based on the fact that Wilson has many years ahead of him in the game.

11. Danny Ings (Burnley) - The best striker in the available pool and after a brilliant season with Burnley has been linked with a move to Manchester United, Liverpool and Southampton.
