David meets Goliath in KPL midweek games

08 April 2014, 14:34

Nairobi - After beating rivals Sofapaka in weekend's KPL Top 8 Knock-out tournament, Premiership log leaders Tusker FC return to action on Wednesday against Sony Sugar in a match dubbed a David-versus-Goliath affair.

Tusker needed a 6-5 on penalty shootout win against Sofapaka and would thus be determined not to labour that much against their Wednesday opponents.

Tusker FC would ensure that their kinetic midfielder Khalid Aucho, and enterprising striker Kevin Kimani will be in the starting line-up when they host Sony Sugar in order to continue with their winning rhythm.

Other Tusker key players likely to be retained in tomorrow's league match against Sony Sugar comprise Samuel Odhiambo, Ismael Dunga, Brian Osumba, Kevin Kimani, Jesse Were and Jockins Atudo, who when on form can bring fruitful results for the club.

Second-placed Chemelil Sugar travel to City Stars, who are placed 10th with nine points.

Chemelil Sugar are on second position with 13 points from seven matches played so far while City Stars have only nine points from the same number of games played.

Premiership defending champions Gor Mahia entertain KCB in another match that promises to be a thriller.

Gor Mahia are placed sixth with 11 points from seven matches while KCB are 15th with three points from a similar same number of games played.

Gor Mahia are expected to make use of the home advantage in order to collect the three vital points against the lowly rated KCB.

Other intriguing encounters would feature Thika United against Muhoroni Youth, KRA versus AFC Leopards, Mathare United taking on Sofapaka, Western Stima hosting Ulinzi Stars with Top Fry Nakuru entertaining Bandari.

All the matches will kick-off at 3:00pm (1500hrs) local time.
