City Stars still dream of survival

28 October 2014, 19:06

Nairobi - Nairobi City Stars defender Mark Ongwae has not lost hope of his side holding on to their Kenyan Premier League status this season.

City Stars need to collect maximum points to keep their survival hopes alive, as they are currently five points away from the final position of safety which is currently occupied by KCB.

Ongwae is hopeful that their rivals will drop points in their remaining matches, while they have to beat already-relegated Top Fry AllStars and then Mathare United in their last match.

"We still have a chance although it's a pipe dream," the defender admitted to Futaa. "We are five points adrift of KCB.

"If they lose their remaining two fixtures, and we win ours then we will pull another miraculous survival."

He added: "People should not rule us out not just yet. We have been unlucky in some instances and in some we have not been clinical enough.

"Had we taken our chances we would not be facing relegation, but that's football."

City Stars, who are second from the bottom of the standings, narrowly survived the drop last season as their 32 points were enough to secure the 14th spot.
