City Stars quality poor, Nkata admits

16 April 2015, 16:37

Nairobi - Paul Nkata has revealed he's not surprised City Stars are struggling this season, saying they simply lack the quality to compete with the bigger teams.

Stars remain without a win in the Kenyan Premier League this term, with their latest result being a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of table toppers Gor Mahia, and sit bottom of the standings.

Speaking after the game, Nkata revealed he expected the result and couldn't imagine the match going any differently because of the gulf in class between the two sides.

"I am not particularly surprised with the way we are performing," he said.

"If you ask me if I expected a different result from the game against Gor Mahia, I will tell you no.

"Look at the quality in the Gor Mahia squad and compare it with us. We are struggling because we lack the physical and mental strength to match some of these teams.

"Gor Mahia had a good pre-season, they have played in the continental championships, have depth and experience.

"As for us, our quality is still down but I hope by mid season we will have picked up."

City Stars have so far only managed to collect one point from seven league outings and remain the only club without a win.
