Cisse honoured with Newcastle move

18 January 2012, 18:00

England - Senegal striker Papiss Demba Cisse has completed a transfer to Newcastle United for a fee believed to be in the region of £10 million and says he is “honoured”.

The 26-year-old flew to Newcastle to sign a deal for five and a half years and has jetted back to Africa to re-join the Teranga Lions ahead of the 2012 Nations Cup finals, which kick-off on Saturday.

Cisse, who has scored nine league goals for SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga this season, will join fellow Senegal attacker Demba Ba at the Sports Direct Arena and will wear the famous number 9 shirt.
