Cape Town - The 2014 Soccer World Cup has proved more popular than the previous edition in South Africa in terms of fan attendance.
Despite all the problems pre-tournament regarding the readiness of the various stadiums, FIFA will no doubt be thrilled with the final official statistics released on Sunday.
A total of 3 429 873 spectators turned up at the 64 matches, making Brazil 2014 the SECOND most popular tournament in the event's 84-year history.
Unbelievably, USA 1994 still holds of the record as the most-supported event - with 3 587 538 fans - at only 52 matches.
South Africa 2010 comes in at No 4 in terms of the total number of attendees, with 3 178 856.
