Bobby upbeat despite Harambee Stars defeat

31 August 2014, 16:13

Nairobi - Bobby Williamson was unable to avoid defeat on his Kenya debut as they went down 1-0 against Egypt in a friendly on Saturday.

The Scotsman took over the reins of the Harambee Stars last week after leaving Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia, although Amr Gamal's 55th-minute goal proved the difference this weekend to hand the Pharaohs the win, and Williamson a losing start.

However, having only had a few days in camp to familiarize himself with the national team, Williamson is not letting himself become too downtrodden by the defeat.

"We have played a good game despite the fact that we only grouped for a few days. We shall work hard to build on this," the tactician said in a brief statement after the match.

Last season saw Williamson skyrocket to prominence in Kenya as he marked his debut campaign in the country's top flight by lifting the title, while his final match in charge of K'Ogalo this term ended in victory to see them climb back to the top of the standings.
