Nairobi - Gor Mahia head coach Bobby Williamson hopes that Dan Sserunkuma can stay at the club despite handing in a transfer request.
The Ugandan forward is on the verge of exiting Gor as he is in Europe negotiating terms of a transfer away from the Kenyan Premier League champions.
According to Williamson, the important bit is ensuring the club retains its best players for the coming season.
He says that even though he is powerless to decide, Sserunkuma staying would do the club a world of good.
" I hope he can stay at the club because he is one of the best players here, Williamson said.
" He has been fantastic for the club in many ways and to see him leave will be very sad for us.
" I do hope that he can stay but on the other hand, he is looking to build a future elsewhere and I understand that, he added.
Sserunkuma has been Gor's top scorer in the last two seasons in the KPL.
