Bobby Williamson knows form does not matter in derby

25 July 2014, 14:48

Nairobi - Gor Mahia coach Bobby Williamson believes the first half of the KPL campaign will have little bearing on Sunday's clash against Leopards.

K'Ogalo, the defending league champions, entered the half way stage of the campaign in pole position, while Ingwe, runners-up in 2013, find themselves sitting in 10th, a whopping 15 points off the pace.

However, Williamson is refusing to read too much into the respective sides' positions, and believes form goes out the window when it comes to the Nairobi derby.

"We have put the first leg behind us. We are focused on the big match on Sunday," said Williamson.

"It is not about revenge but we need all three points to maintain our position at the top."

He added: "Dynamics of a derby are usually very different. Previous form does not count."
