Nairobi - The seemingly-elusive battle to knock leaders Gor Mahia off the top of the Kenya Premier League log standings resumes this weekend again with two of the Nairobi-based side's rivals locking horns.
Second-placed Sofapaka and Thika United, third on the table, clash in a do-or-die encounter that is likely to determine the side that finishes second with Gor Mahia all but having clinched the title.
Ahead of the clash on Saturday, goal difference separates Sofapaka and Thika.
They are nine points off Gor Mahia after the Football Kenya Federation
(FKF) awarded the side three points from the recent abandoned match against Sony Sugar.
Thika United received a boost of their own with the return of their attacking midfielder, Joseph Kuria, ahead of the encounter against Sofapaka.
The versatile midfielder, who will be key to his team's prospects, is marking the return to Thika alongside Dennis Odhiambo and Kepha Aswani, who the coach, John Kamau, believes would boost their chances of collecting the three vital points against Sofapaka.
“Their presence gives us a lot of morale going into this fixture considering their contribution in the past," he said.
