Bafana rise in FIFA ranking, Nigeria continue downward spiral

Nairobi - The latest round of FIFA rankings have been released, with Bafana Bafana
one of the biggest movers up the table, while Nigeria continue their
South Africa have enjoyed an unbeaten run since Shakes Mashaba's
appointment as head coach at the end of July, including during their
2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, where they finished as
winners of Group A.
That form has seen Bafana climb six places up
the world rankings to sit just outside of the top 50, while they are
now also 11th on the continent.
The Super Eagles, meanwhile,
continue to drop after they failed to ensure they are present to defend
their AFCON title at next year's finals in Equatorial Guinea, having
finished third in the group, behind South Africa and Congo.
The West African giants now find themselves 42nd in the world and ninth on the continent.
also suffered a big drop and are now outside the top 100 in the world,
while Zambia's successful qualification to AFCON 2015 has seen them
shoot up 10 places on the overall rankings to sit 78th.
is less impressive for Kenya, who have dropped five places to sit 116th
in the world, despite having also ensured their place in next year's
FIFA African rankings:
