London - Arsenal surrendered a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 at home to Southampton in the third round of the League Cup on Tuesday.
Alexis Sanchez put Arsenal ahead with a brilliant free kick in the 14th minute, but Dusan Tadic leveled six minutes later with a penalty, his first goal for Southampton, after Tomas Roicky had fouled Sadio Mane.
Defender Nathaniel Clyne then lashed in a vicious strike from outside the area in the 40th minute for Southampton's winner.
Elsewhere, Sunderland lost 2-1 to Stoke, despite United States striker Jozy Altidore giving it the lead after 16 minutes. Marc Muniesa scored both Stoke's goals, one in each half.
Swansea knocked out Everton with a 3-0 victory, courtesy of goals from Nathan Dyer, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Marvin Emnes.
