Amrouche convinced Kenya can qualify

01 August 2014, 20:31

Nairobi - Suspended Kenya coach Adel Amrouche is convinced the national team can still secure their place at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, even without him at the helm.

The tactician was banned from all football activities for one year after CAF found him guilty of spitting at a match official during their first-round AFCON qualifier against Comoros in May.

The Harambee Stars are next in action against Lesotho in a must-win fixture on Sunday, having lost the first leg of their second-round qualifier 1-0 in June, and although he will not be in the dugout, Amrouche is convinced the team have the quality and know how to secure the result they need.

"We are attaching a lot of importance to this game. It's like a final, which we must win to advance to the group stages," he said.

"I would rather focus on the match ahead, although I believe justice will prevail at CAF. I know the players will do well in my absence."
