Amrouche ban reduced

31 August 2014, 10:10

Nairobi - Former Kenya coach Adel Amrouche has had his one-year ban reduced to six matches after meeting with CAF's appeals board.

The 46-year-old was handed the 12-month suspension after being found guilty of spitting at a match official during Kenya's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Comoros in May.

Amrouche was subsequently sacked by the Harambee Stars, with former Gor Mahia boss Bobby Williamson handed the reins earlier this week.

And Amrouche will now have to pay a fine of 10,000 US dollars, while his suspension has been downgraded to six games.

According to reports, CAF's appeals board ruled that there was "no certainty as to the facts alleged" against the coach, although they did point out that he "was not blameless".
