£200m rescue kitty for Moyes

07 January 2014, 16:02

Cape Town - Manchester United will back manager David Moyes with a mammoth £200m to rebuild his struggling team, a report on the Daily Mail website indicates.

United are currently languishing in 7th spot on the English Premier League log, having already lost six games.

They were also dumped out of the FA Cup on Sunday, losing 2-1 to Swansea at Old Trafford for their fourth home defeat in six matches.

On Tuesday night they meet Sunderland in their League Cup semi-final first leg at the Stadium of Light - a game in which they are again expected to be without Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

The absence of the two star players highlights the lack of world-class talent in the squad Moyes inherited from Alex Ferguson, which means new signings are needed to strengthen the team.

The Glazer family who own the club will reportedly give Moyes enough money to buy the right players over the next 18 months.

Moyes's list of targets includes two central midfielders, a striker, a left back and a centre back. However, he is unwilling to compromise on quality and is likely to wait until the summer to get players he wants.
