Nairobi - Gor Mahia winger Innocent Mutiso will continue to ply his trade at the Kenyan champions next season, despite encountering numerous injuries.
The injury problems fuelled speculation that Gor Mahia might part ways with the player during the current transfer window. However, those rumours have now been nipped in the bud.
"Mutiso is our player, we have not dropped him. He has had injury issues which we are still assessing before a final decision is made," Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier told the club's website.
Knee injuries are known to be highly problematic for players, especially in the long term. Gor Mahia do not want to make a hasty decision in this regard but have assured the local football fraternity that a decision will eventually be made.
"It will not be good to drop a player who is still injured but has potential. We will see if the technical bench needs him or not," added Rachier.
Gor Mahia have encountered some financial difficulty during the past year and have been forced to exercise fiscal prudence during that period. However, some players will still feature for them this season.
Among the Gor Mahia players who are expected to remain on the roster in 2015 are: goalkeepers Jerim Onyango and David Juma, Musa Mohammed, Kevin Oluoch, Simon Pierre, Collins Okoth, Eric Ochieng, Godfrey Walusimbi, Timothy Otieno, George Odhiambo and Herbert Kopany.
