Yego sets sights on hat-trick

Nairobi - The past few weeks have been excellent for Javelin champion Julius Yego, but the athlete is not resting on his laurels.
The Kenyan javelin thrower won gold at the Commonwealth Games in
Glasgow at the start of August and then followed it up with more glory
at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Morocco last week.
Now he wants to make it a hat-trick of titles when he competes in the
IAAF Continental Cup from September 13-14 in Marrakech, Morocco.
The 25-year-old set a new Kenya record of 85.40 during the World
Championships in Moscow last year, but he says he will be gunning for
gold and not the record at the Continental Cup.
"I’m happy for the good results I have achieved this year. I was in
good form in Glasgow although I had a groin injury but the best athlete
won and that was me," he told Capital FM Sport.
"I’m not looking at the distance, my main aim is to win the Continental Cup and accomplish three titles in a row."
Before heading to Marrakech, Yego will take part in the Diamond League meetings in Zurich and Brussels.
"I have two Diamond Leagues to compete before focusing on the
Continental Cup where I’m going for a win and win another global event
as I did in Glasgow which I treasure most," he added.
