Nairobi - Commonwealth javelin champion Julius Yego will take part in the seventh edition of the Masaai Mara Marathon, which takes place on October 18.
The African champion will participate in a 'Morans' javelin competition against some Masaai Warriors, in which the participant whose throw is the closest to Yego’s will win Sh20,000.
Race director Billy Konchellah said that in an invitation was issued to Yego in the hope of inspiring some Masaai into taking up javelin as a sport.
"We not only want to use the event as a charity race to raise funds for projects in the conservancy but use it also promote a talent amongst the Masaai community that can be tapped and harnessed," said Konchellah.
