09 June 2015, 14:20
Nairobi - The men's edition of this tournament was first played in 2004 with the women's competition introduced in 2006.
It is contested between Kenya and
Uganda. The men's and women's teams of these countries each compete
annually for their respective cups on a Home-and-Away basis. The
competition and the cups are named after Mount Elgon, a mountain on the
border of the two countries.
Kenya's men and women teams are
defending champions in each category, the Kenya "A" side having won it
last year 48-21 on aggregate, having lost the first leg in Kampala 14-21
before shutting out Uganda 34-0 in Nairobi while the women beat
Uganda's Lady Cranes over two legs, 33-15 in Kampala and 39-10 in
Nairobi to triumph 72-25 on aggregate.
This year's first leg takes place on
Saturday 13 June 2015 at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi with the return
leg in Kampala a week later.
