Nairobi - Kenyan volleyball star Elizabeth Wanyama expressed her confidence in the team's capabilities ahead of the FIVB World Grand Prix tournament which takes place in Mexico next month.
Wanyama said that there is no reason why team Kenya could not go all the way even though it will be their maiden appearance at the event.
“We have reviewed the teams we will be competing against. Algeria is will be our greatest threat in the preliminaries, but we hold a psychological advantage after beating them in the Club Championships and the Africa Cup of Nations last year,” Wanyama said.
The national team were training at the Kasarani Stadium on Thursday where head coach David Lung’aho released the names of the 21 players who will carry Kenya’s hopes starting July 25.
Prisons setter Jane Wacu and Janet Wanja made the list as did 2013 Kenya Volleyball Federation player of the year Mercy Moim.
Other players in the squad are siblings Everline and Violet Makuto, youngsters Chemutai Ndiema and libero Naomi Too from Nairobi Water.
