WRC could return to Kenya

Nairobi - The Kenya Motor Sports Federation says the Kenya Commercial Bank Safari Rally could once again become an FIA World Rally Championship event.
The Safari Rally was dropped from the WRC agenda in 2012, but the Star reports that it could be reinstated as soon as 2017.
J.S. Vohra, chairman of the Kenya Motor Sports Federation, said the race organizers would make sure everything went smoothly.
"This year is a stepping stone for the future and if we are able to prove that we can do the rally properly, then we will be considered for candidature next year,” he said.
“If this rally goes well, they will give us a candidate event in 2015; so we could be back in 2017," said Vohra.

Around 60 cars are expected to take part in the race on September 12, with drivers coming from Zambia, Cote d’Voire, and Uganda.
The race will start at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre on Friday next week and progress through three stages in Kiambu, Naro Moro and Nanyuki.
